Hello Kilkenny!!

Asylum are gearing up for The Alice Project - our 5 part retelling of the tale of Alice Kyteler and Kilkenny Witch Trials, as part of Kilkenny Arts Festival this August.

It’s going to be Epic folks!

And we want you to be part of it.

We want singers, dancers, movers and shakers. Sign up for our weekly workshops.

DANCE

If you want to be part of our community Dance Squad (facilitated by the brilliant Cindy Cummings from our award-winning riot squad from The Big Chapel X. Rehearsals will take place on Tuesday evenings starting June 2nd from 7.00pm to 8.30pm.

The Dance Squad will be part of Episode 1 - The Demon Dance, taking place on Friday 7th of August at 10pm. The performance will be approximately 30 minutes long.

You would also need to be available on Thursday 6th of August for dress rehearsal from 9pm to 10.30pm.

CHOIR

If you want to be part of our epic Community Choir, facilitated by the wonderful Muireann Ryan also veteran of The Big Chapel X. they will meet on Thursday evenings starting June 18th from 7.30 to 9pm.

The choir will be part of our the final episode - The Words of Petronella, which will take place on Saturday 15th of August.

You would definitely also need to be available for the technical rehearsal on August 13th and dress rehearsal on the 14th.

DOVES

Our roving flock of proto-fascists will be needed for both episodes. ‘Dickie’s Doves’ will dedicate themselves to taking all the fun out of fundamentalism. (Meant all tongue in cheek, we do not condone this).

We’d need you for a couple of weekend and evening rehearsals in late July and early August. We’ll arm you and unleash you on the unsuspecting public.

Go to here, give us your details and we’ll be in touch.

702 years ago, Dame Alice Kyteler was the first woman in Ireland to be tried for Heresy.  She fled Kilkenny, and her servant Petronella was tried and convicted in her stead, then publicly burned alive on the main street of Kilkenny.

Publicly. Burned. Alive.

This is not their story. But it might be.
